I’m in a really bad situation.

Looking at the serious expression on Hao Ran’s face, I couldn’t come up with an answer to his question. I mean, I don’t even remember why is started calling her ‘loli’.

If I used the same reason that as why she calls me ‘Fei Yu’…

Hao Ran wouldn’t believe such a simple reason.

“Nickname.”

“What?”

“It’s a nickname.”

“Could you explain more?”

“It. Is. A. Nickname.”

We were starting to attract the attention of the class.

I stared intensely at Hao Ran, signifying that this is the end of the conversation.

Seeing my stare, Hao Ran raised his voice a little.

“Oh well, let’s leave it at that. Anyways, Sister Yao is still angry, what do we do about that?”

Continuing with this topic, the focus of the class shifted from me to Hao Ran.

 

In the afternoon, we went to the rooftop to hang out as per usual.

“Thanks for your hard work.”

“If you really want to thank me, how about telling me the truth?”

We sat on the floor, leaning against the wire fence, discussing the events from earlier this morning.

“It’ll be too much of hassle to explain fully, but in short, it’s because she’s cute.”

“Really? That’s the reason?”

Finishing the lunch box, I placed it on the ground beside me while replying Hao Ran, “Yeah, I wouldn’t approach girls that easily.”

“Just because of that thing?”

“Yeah, so please shut your mouth.”

As my expression grew dark, Hao Ran shrugged his shoulders and gave up on the topic.

He looked up towards the sky and lightly said, “You’re having it rough too, aren’t you?”

“You probably want to deal with your own problems first before worrying about mine.”

“My problems?”

“Who are you going to pick between Tian Ling and Sister Yao?”

Confused, Hao Ran looked at me and asked, “Why would you mention their names now?”

“I’m anxious for you. Anyone would be jealous after seeing you being fought over by two beautiful ladies.”

I acted as if I was really jealous but Hao Ran saw through the act. He put his arms around my shoulder and pulled me close.

“Don’t tell me you’re going after the one who loses.”

“Of course not, I’m not interested anyway.”

“Then why would you ask?!”

I smiled and replied, “Curiosity. Simply because I’m curious, that’s why.”

Hao Ran smiled too and said, “If it is just curiosity, then I won’t give you an answer.”

“Hey, I answered your question, why won’t you answer mine?”

“Haha, because I don’t want to.”

Hao Ran let go of me and smiled at me playfully.

I acted surprised and exclaimed, “Don’t tell me you’re actually going to two-time them!”

“Why not? A harem is a man’s romance.”

“Your romance is trash.”

“What did you say?”

I pretend to admire the sky and replied, “The weather is great today.”

“Be honest with me.”

“Why should I?”

I grabbed Hao Ran’s hand that was reaching towards me and started wrestling with him. His face which was close to mine was twisted from his exertion of strength.

We struggled for a bit more before Hao Ran gave up and let go of me. He sat down and I went back to leaning against the fence in silence.

“That’s enough. We’re never gonna end at this rate.”

It started feeling boring so Hao Ran started on the topic again.

“To be honest, I don’t know myself.”

“What are you referring to?”

“Who to choose.” Hao Ran rubbed his head with a slightly troubled looked. “I don’t know what to do.”

“Isn’t it as simple as picking one?”

“To me, Tian Ling is like a younger sister and Sister Yao is, well, my older sister. Plus, I can’t marry a relative can I?”

Hao Ran smiled bitterly.

I blinked at him, “So, you prefer Sister Yao over Tian Ling?”

“Perhaps but I just wish we can remain like this forever.”

“That’s not possible.”

I too raised my head to look at the sky and smiled bitterly.
